The road directing to sacred Lake Mansarovar was blocked since 23 August 2024, due to heavy rainfall. However the lake has been reopened and started to operate from August 25.
About 500 passengers (Nepal-bound travelers ) returning from Kerung and 100 passengers going to sacred lake Mansarovar were stranded until the road got repaired, CDO Khanal informed. The passengers have now completed the immigration process and are headed towards their respective destinations with the help of the Rasuwa-based Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.
According to the border security office, the Chinese side repaired the road and the road has been operational since Sunday afternoon, after the Kerung River washed away part of the road. Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Bednidhi Khanal reported that a large number of pilgrims suffered after the expansion of the Kerung River flowed about 5 kilometers south of Miteri Pul.
