Kathmandu valley, the capital of Nepal boasts its own geographical, natural and cultural fascinations for travelers. Extended Kathmandu Valley Tour is a 7 day trip which takes us to the three beautiful cities.  We visit Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur within Kathmandu valley. Moreover, we also visit wonderful sites located in its boundary. We begin our 7 day tour by paying our visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They are namely Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, swoyambhunath, Pashupatinath and boudhanath. The trip is followed by trips to beautiful villages nearby.

All and all Extended Kathmandy valley tour takes us to Patan: a place rich of art and architectures.  Secondly we visit Bhaktapur: the true medieval city to Baudhanath, the biggest Buddhist shrine. After that we visit Pashupatinath: most important hindu prilgrimage to Swayambhunath: eye of Buddha for peace.

Our trip further extends to Changu Narayan Temple which is the oldest pagoda style building in Nepal. Changu Narayan Temple is believed to have stood proudly since 325 A.D. We also travel to Nagarkot: a hill station most popular for its sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. Our trip comes to conclusion with visits to historic Dakshinkali and Budhanilkantha temples ideally located in the outskirts of the valley.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuwan International airport a representative from Naata Trek and Tours will be waiting for you at the airport displaying a playcard imprinted with your name. He/she will then transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening we can enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by Naata Trek and Tours. During the dinner we can enjoy Nepalese cuisine which will introduce us to the country’s food culture.

Day 2: Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu

We will have a pre trip meeting after breakfast where you will be introduced to your Guide. During the meeting you can assure yourself with any queries regarding the trip.
We will start our tour by visiting Boudhanath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks praying in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. After Boudhanath Stupa we visit Pashupatinath Temple, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats. We will also visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is a collection of pagoda and shikhara–style temples grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The attraction of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the Lion gate, the Golden gate, the Palace of Fifty-Five Windows, art galleries, the Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla.

Day 3: Mountain flight and Sightseeing Tour of Patan, Khokana and Bungamati

Early in the morning Naata’s representative will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport for the Mountain Flight. In this stupendous Everest Mountain Flight – you will fly to the top of the world’s largest mountain range giving you an amazing scenic flight for an hour. You will witness Mount Everest (8848m), Mount Lhotse (4th highest), Mount Makalu (5th highest) and many other peaks. Among the other peaks, Gauri-Shanker is very clear during the mountain flight. We also get the glimpse of Tibetan Plateau.
In the afternoon we pay our visit to Patan, Khokana and Bungmati. Patan Durbar Square: Listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites, is rich in ancient arts and architecture. Bungmati, basically a Newari settlement seems unmarred by time. It is also famous for the cycling trip (link). Here we can see locals drying red chillies and garlic from the windows of their old-fashioned houses. Famed for the mustard-oil seed and its functional and industrial heritage, Khokana is splendid in its own right.

Day 4: Sightseeing: Thimi, Bhaktapur, Changu Narayan and Nagarkot

Today we start our trip with a drive to Thimi which is about 10 kilometers east of Kathmandu. Thimi is famed for puppets, hand-woven clothes, masks, earthen wares and other handicrafts. This place is also known for its sweet, beaten rice grown on traditional fields. Our next destination is Bhaktapur: An alluring city with local life style and tradition preserved over centuries of isolation from the thorns and horns of Kathmandu. Whilst in the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, we get to lose ourselves in the vision of the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which unify to provide an aura of a magical outdoor theater to its visitors. The delicious local food brings water to the mouth. It is mostly famous for ‘juju dhau’ curd.
Changu Narayan is the oldest temple in the Kathmandu valley and dignifies itself as the oldest pagoda style building of Nepal.
Nagarkot: a renowned hill station sits at 7200ft and blows its own trumpet of spectacular Himalayan vistas. It is well known for its sunrise and sunset views of the Himalayas. As per your wish, we will visit Nagarkot either for sunrise or for sunset.

Day 5: Tour Dakshinkali, Chobhar, Pharping and Kirtipur

Today after Breakfast we head towards the southern part of Kathmandu reaching Dakshinkali Temple.
Dakshinkali Temple: Devoted to the Goddess Kali, it is one of the well-known Hindu enshrinement. 22 kilometers from Kathmandu and about kilometer from the village known as Pharping, Dakshinkali Temple is a place with absolute devotion to hindus. The temple was constructed by Malla King when Goddess Kali appeared in the King’s dream and instructed him to do so. It is strongly believed that DakshinKali Temple has the ability to make the wish of its devotees come true. Furthermore, the cockerels male goats, hens, ducks and other animals are sacrificed as wishes are made in front of the temple.
Chobhar gorge is the major attraction of Chobar. It is believed that the gorge was carved out by a mighty blow of the sword by Manjushree who wanted to drain the lake that filled Kathmandu valley centuries ago. Even today, this is the place through which the Valley’s water surge. Alongside is the Jal Vinayak Temple, a pivotal pilgrimage site for the valley.
Pharping has several Buddhist and Hindu monuments, monasteries and temples.
Kirtipur is an ancient town having a brave history, situated atop a hill of the valley. Tribhuvan University which is one of the largest and oldest university of Nepal is situated here. It is an important learning center of Nepal. The historic town has many fascinating sights, shrines, old houses and temples. Overnight in Kirtipur.

Day 6: Sightseeing in Budhanilkantha and Shivapuri

Today, we drive north to Budhanilkantha, a major pilgrimage site for the Hindus. where a giant statue of Lord Vishnu rests on a bed of snakes in a small pond. Further north from Budhanilkantha is a popular trekking trail in the Shivapuri National Park. It is the go to destination for people wanting a short trekking session around the Kathmandu Valley. The dirt-road takes us to a monastery and through the village of Dandagaon, Gurje Bhanjyang and finally uncovers panoramic views of the mountains from the hilltop.

Day 7: Final Departure

Our trip ends today. A Naata Trek and Tours representative will drop you off at the international airport for your departure.
