Per the recent data from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 720,334 tourists visited Nepal in the last eight months from January to August of 2024. The source of NTB informed that the arrival of foreigners has increased by 8.3 percent compared to the previous year.
Compared to the same period last year, 5 thousand 566 more tourists came to Nepal in August of this year. Last year, 67 thousand 153 tourists visited Nepal. However this year’s August, there were 72 thousand 719 inflow of visitors.
The director of the Nepal Tourism Board, Maniraj Lamichhane said that the number of foreign tourists has been increasing recently. He expressed his belief that as a result of the tourism promotion program, a large number of tourists will come from neighboring and other countries in the upcoming days.
According to the statistics of the board, in August this year, the most number of tourists came from India (25,832), China ( 6,614), America (5,614), Sri Lanka ( 4,851), and Bangladesh ( 3,077 ). And 26731 from other foreign countries.
The highest number of tourist inflow between eight months was 111,376 in March and the lowest in July with 64,599. Likewise, the government has set a target of bringing in 1.6 million foreigners in the budget of the current financial year by implementing the Tourism Strategy Plan (2016-25) and the Visit Nepal Decade.
