Royal Caribbean International has decided to cancel all bookings on its Rhapsody of the Seas ship, which was set to leave from San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sunday, September 15, for precaution. The problem is a damaged lifeboat, which means the ship doesn’t have enough lifeboat seats for all the passengers as required.
Royal Caribbean said in a letter to guests: “One of our lifeboat-tender boats was damaged on the last trip. Because of this, we can’t have you onboard. We know this is disappointing and we’re really sorry for the impact on your vacation plans.”
The company is providing guests a full refund and credit for a future Royal Caribbean cruise. They will also cover some non-refundable travel costs, like flights, trains, and rental cars. Through this, they aim to make up for the inconvenience and help cover the expenses that were incurred due to the trip cancellation.
